Silent Wind is a deeply personal project conceived for my cinematography class, where the task was to encapsulate a feeling through the lens of a camera. I chose to explore the concept of ‘silent wind’—a feeling that evokes nostalgia, softness, and a calming presence. To convey this intangible sensation, I opted for a series of black and white photographs, focusing primarily on landscapes. These monochrome scenes were meticulously selected to embody the quiet, almost whisper-like quality of a gentle breeze, aiming to transport viewers to a place of introspection and peace.

APPROACH »

My approach was rooted in the intention to capture more than just visual scenes; I aimed to encapsulate a feeling, a mood that resonates with the silent wind’s essence. By choosing black and white photography, I stripped away the distraction of color, focusing on contrasts, textures, and the interplay of light and shadow to evoke emotion. Each landscape was chosen for its ability to convey silence and movement simultaneously, with compositions that guide the viewer’s eye and heart towards a serene contemplation.
